SLOW DOWN….

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2Corinthians 1:3-4)

The following is a poem being circulated on the Internet via email. It is written by a girl who is battling cancer. She does not sign her name, so there is no way for me to appropriately attribute this to her other than mentioning how it came to my attention. The email requested that the poem be passed along, and so I thought it would make for a meaningful post on this Sunday morning.

As you read this, might I ask you to join me in lifting up a prayer for this anonymous girl — as well as the many who are suffering in some great battle they each are facing today. Perhaps you yourself are undergoing an epic challenge. I pray the words of this young unknown champion will provide you a measure of comfort and courage.

Slow Down….

Have you ever watched kidsmerry go round
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s
erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun
into the fading night?

You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through
each day on the fly?
When you ask, “How are you?”
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die,
Cause you never had time
To call and say,’Hi’

When you run so fast
to get somewhere
You miss half the fun
of getting there.

When you worry and hurry
through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
